The purpose of my blog has been to write about family life, to promote FAMILY, and to share and receive ideas on bettering families, so this prize is a way for one lucky winner to celebrate their family by winning a t-shirt sporting the names of their family members. The examples above are only two ideas. Some people choose to put their surname as the biggest word and then the first names of the family members surrounding it. If you are the winner you will get to choose size, shirt color, word color, font, and design.
And what do you have to do to win this fabulous prize? Well…we need ideas for Halloween costumes. Every year my mom hosts a family Halloween party, and we always try to have a creative costume. We’ve been pirates, the “Adam’s Apple Family” (apples tied around our necks), babies, and two years ago, since we were hosting a foreign exchange student from Vietnam, we made him be the Vietnamese soldier and the rest of us were his prisoner’s of war.
Leave a costume idea in the comment section and you will be entered into the contest. It’s that simple! The contest runs until 12:00 p.m. MST Saturday, October 25, 2008. A number of things are being accomplished with this post: I get to celebrate post #102, I still promote family, I help Hub spread the word about his business, I get to send a winner a t-shirt to celebrate their family, and we get ideas for Halloween costumes! Sometime after 12:00 p.m. MST on Saturday, October 25, 2008 the names of all entrants will be placed in my purple smiley face bowl and Hub will draw out the lucky winner. Make sure to include your email address in your comment if you don’t have a blog URL so that you can be contacted. The winner will be announced in a post on Monday, October 27, 2008.
***Make note: If you are not the winner and would still like to order a t-shirt(s) feel free to email me at kweenmama at yahoo dot com. Though there is a website, it is still under construction and it will be easier to place an order that way–besides, anyone who orders from my blog will receive $5.00 off of each item they order. One of the biggest sellers has been framed family names in a cloud (like on the shirts above). We can email a sample picture of one to anyone who is interested.
So, share those costume ideas…you just might win a shirt!
And, thanks.

Cool shirts! They remind me of a tool I use in the classroom called Wordle. What a perfect gift to celebrate family.

Congrats on your #102 post! Have you guys been the Brady Bunch? That was like the ultimate family. I hope I win! I love prizes!

P.S. I get the wasabi crackers at Whole Foods–they are buy 365 and in a green wrapper. Near the bottom of the shelf usually because WF doesn’t want you to see them ’cause they are the cheap crackers. 🙂

My favorite costume ever . . .
When I was a big fat guy, I put on a white t-shirt, painted a brown splotch on the front, cut out two squares of cardboard and wore them sandwich style, and called myself a s’more.
How about looking around for some used musical instruments, donning some 70s clothes and being the Partridge Family. You could so do this one . . . and you get to feather your hair!
Or, wear leotards and be a new, up-and-coming pro wresting squad. You could tag team at bobbing for apples . . .
Very cool stuff!

Go as a baseball team?

Fun idea! Congrats on post #102!
Ideas:
My favorite Halloween when I was single, me and two friends tried to think of something to be that would coordinate, reflect our different personalities, and be pretty cheap. After much thought, we hit the perfect idea. We were the “Miss”es — Pagaent queens with clever titles, only appreciated by the quick-witted.
Miss Demeanor
Miss Tickle
Miss Fortune
It’s an easy costume – Just dress to match your word, and add a banner & tiara. I found wide white ribbon, printed out the names on the computer & traces the letters onto the ribbon with black paint.
For more ideas, go to “mis…” in the dictionary and holy cow! So many options.
Miss Demeanor’s brother wore a tight black shirt that we sparkle-puff-painted with SECURITY, and hung around us that night. (lol!)
Another idea is for you & Hub to be M&M packages, and your kids the individual m&ms. You could just have them in plain colored shirts with “m” stenciled on the front. Stuffing optional. 🙂

Cool shirts!
Since Little Dude has a dairy allergy, we are poking fun at that…
He is going to be a little cow (truly cute cow costume I bought, but am dressing up), the Hubby is going to be a farmer and I’m going to be a “Dairy Princess.” (Yes, there is such a thing up here in the dairy state.)
I’m altering a “Princess” sash, have a small tiara, and am either using an old bridesmaid dress I have or am going to do the flannel shirt and jeans thing – a totally appropriate look for a dairy princess in this area.
The Hubby doesn’t have bib overalls, but is doing the the flannel shirt, boots, old mesh farmer cap, and hopefully we’ll go from there.

You could make fruit shapes out of colored felt, attach them to a headband, and go as a fruit salad. You could also go as Snow White/Prince Charming and the 7 Dwarves.
I LOVE the shirts. If I don’t win, I’d like to order some anyway.

The easiest costume my friends and I ever came up with…we dressed in all black and cut out white circles from posterboard to pin on our shirts or pants…dominoes!
You could also go as a game board and game pieces (like monopoly or clue)
But I LOVE the fruit salad idea!

The domino suggestion made me think of 101 Dalmations, but I guess you don’t quite have enough people for that. LOL!
My son suggested that you use black trash bags and attach wings. Then you are a swarm of flies (or you could make bees with yellow duct tape.)

Go as a school of fish. Use hula hoops as a costume base, draped over one shoulder and tied to a leg. Cover the hoop (and upper body) with white or grey fabric with black and yellow stripes. Add flowing fins and big wax lips to make a giant angelfish. Stay close together at the event, walking at the same pace, and when one of you changes direction, everyone follow suit. 🙂

I remember when I was at BYU some girls came to a dance dressed as static cling. They wore all black and pinned socks and things all over themselves.
